Virtual Reality (VR) technology is an exciting and rapidly advancing field of computing. It has the potential to revolutionize how we interact with data, content, and information.
Even so, many people are still uncertain about whether investing in VR is worth it. From the cost of hardware to its limited current uses, this article will explore whether or not VR is a good investment for the average consumer.
I’ll give my vote about whether VR is worth it and why at the bottom.

It is also a powerful tool for understanding complex data, as it allows users to quickly switch between perspectives and better visualize their findings.
And of course remote presence is a reality now too! With the rise of virtual reality, it’s easier than ever to be connected to your work or friends from anywhere. Including remote VR teaching and conferences, bringing people together around the world.

Personally, I have the Oculus Quest 2, and had originally bought the Oculus Rift on launch.
Meta Quest Pro is a big upgrade to current mainstream VR headsets but clocks in at $999 MRSP! But it does have many nice upgrades, including lenses and controllers and smaller size.
The Meta Quest 3 should be coming out this year with a boost in quality at a reasonable price.
3. Current Limitations of VR Systems
While VR technology has the potential to revolutionize how we experience the world around us, it comes with certain limitations. For example, they don’t work as well in dark areas due to inability to track well.
Many headsets are bulky and uncomfortable for long-term use, and may not provide as immersive an experience as hoped for.

5. Who is spending money on VR?
Basically, the biggest companies in the world.
Meta is banking the whole company on this and is spending billions of dollars.
It currently sells the bestselling VR headset the Meta Quest 2.
Even Apple, Microsoft, and Google are spending billions as well as “side projects” so there is a lot of investment and effort going into this field.
In fact, Apple AR headset is expected to be announced soon, and could make AR/VR more mainstream.
No one wants to be left behind for potentially the next big platform.
So at least for now there will be a lot of advancement of the technology in the near future.
6. 360 VR travel – how I use VR
My main reason for starting this blog and 360 VR Youtube channel was to post my 360 VR videos.
